Omphile Vissagie came on in the 80th minute and sealed the win in Popa style! His thunderous left-foot strike in the 80th minute lit up the National Stadium, sealing a 2–0 win in our 2025/26 opener.
Township Rollers began their title defense with a convincing 2-0 home victory over newly promoted Matebele FC. At the National Stadium in Gaborone, the defending champions took charge through two second-half strikes. Midfielder Letlhohonolo Fohloane gave Rollers the lead in the 69th minute and winger Omphile Vissage added a late second in the 80th minute to seal the win. The result was built on disciplined defending and efficient finishing by the Rollers.
Rollers controlled the match from start to finish. Matebele had few clear chances as Rollers’ midfield dictated play. After a goalless first half, Rollers’ persistence paid off. Fohloane’s opener broke the deadlock, and Matebele pushed men forward seeking an equalizer. In stoppage time, Vissage capitalized on space to fire in the second goal, sparking celebrations. Matebele’s defense remained sturdy but ultimately could not keep out the two strikes, and the home side held on comfortably.
The win puts Township Rollers level on 3 points in the early table (goal difference +2). Coach Morena Ramoreboli will be satisfied to start with a clean sheet and maximum points. The victory also earns Rollers early momentum and belief. Matebele FC, despite a spirited debut performance, leave Week 1 still seeking their first point. Both teams now turn their attention to Round 2; Rollers to maintain their perfect record, and Matebele to bounce back in search of a win.
