Mochudi Centre Chiefs produced one of their most convincing performances of the season, sweeping aside Police XI with a 4-0 victory at Lobatse Sports Complex on Wednesday evening. The win not only keeps Chiefs firmly in the conversation among the title contenders, but it also sends a clear signal to their rivals about their growing strength and consistency in the Botswana Premier League.
The visitors wasted no time asserting themselves, with Ronaldo Fortune striking in the 8th minute after a well-timed pass sliced open the Police XI defense. From that point on, Chiefs controlled the tempo and dominated possession. Police XI struggled to contain their opponents, who created chance after chance, pressing high and forcing mistakes from the back line. Razeen Bennett doubled the lead before half-time, putting Police XI under immense pressure heading into the break.
The second half saw Chiefs continue their relentless push, with Ibrahim Youssouf proving the star of the show. The forward struck twice, including a well-taken finish in added time before the interval, to put the result beyond doubt. His brace capped off a commanding performance, leaving Police XI with no answers on either end of the pitch. With this victory, Chiefs showcased not only their attacking firepower but also their defensive solidity, keeping a clean sheet in style.
For Police XI, the heavy defeat highlighted recurring weaknesses that will need urgent attention if they are to climb the table. Chiefs, on the other hand, will leave Lobatse full of confidence, knowing that such commanding performances are exactly what is required to sustain a title challenge. If they can maintain this level of sharpness, depth, and tactical discipline, Mochudi Centre Chiefs could very well emerge as one of the frontrunners for the 2025 Botswana Premier League crown.
