Nico United began their 2025–26 Botswana Premier League campaign with a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Extension Gunners on Saturday afternoon. The encounter, played in front of a lively crowd, and delivered end-to-end action as both sides looked to make an early statement in the new season.

The hosts took control early, with Moabi Phuthego striking in the 13th minute to hand Nico United the lead. Extension Gunners, however, showed resilience and managed to pull level before halftime through Tshepo Molefe’s equalizer in the 40th minute, setting up a tense second half as both teams pushed for the winner.

Nico United’s persistence eventually paid off when Pako Gaofose found the back of the net in the 78th minute, sealing all three points for his side. The result places Nico United in a strong position at the start of the season, while Extension Gunners will have to regroup quickly in search of their first win against Santa Green at the VTM Arena .
